The Scrapbook Challenges Blog Hop!!

Welcome to Scrapbook Challenges Blog Hop!!!

If you just found us you can start the blog hop at Pamela's blog.

Let me introduce myself in case you are new here. I am Sarah, a returning DT member to scrapbook challengs. I loved my time on the DT so much I was thrilled to be asked back for another term. I live in Chicago with my husband Ron and 1 year old daugher Frances. Frances is the subject of most of my projects.

For the blog hop Pamela created this special sketch for the new DT, returning DT, retiring DT and YOU!!! Yes you! You can join our blog hop by creating a layout based on this sketch and posting it to the hop on section in the Scrapbook Challenges forum. And your name will be entered into a random draw for a pretty fantastic RAK (see below for details!).

Here is my layout based on the sketch. This is my sweet Frances when she was only 2 weeks old. My how she has grown!!

And now for the fun part- the RAKS involved in the blog hop!!

1. I am doing a random draw for two packages of Sassafras goodies! To be entered for the first package just leave a comment on this post. I will do a random draw of all my followers for the second package. So if you leave a comment and become a follower of this blog you will double your changes of winning! I will announce the winners here and on scrapbook challenges at the end of the blog hop.

2. Everyone who leaves a comment on ALL blogs, gets entered into a drawing for the April Scarlet Lime kit shown below!

3. Everyone who does a layout based on the sketch this weekend and posts it in the Hop On section on Scrapbook challenges will get entered into a drawing for the "My Family" line from Fancy Pants Designs. :)

Some new challenges

Hello there everyone. Here are some new challenges for you.

First up is Monday's sketch from Scrapbook challenges:

And here is my take on the sketch using some fabulous My Little Shoebox papers and embellies. I love, love, love the MLS papers, but unfortunately they can not be found here. Luckily I found some on Scrapbook.com and had it delivered. They were out of some of the designs I wanted, but I found lots of goodies. I flipped this sketch to make it fit my photos a little better. You can see what the rest of the DT did with the sketch HERE.

And it is also my week to host a challenge at Scrapbook Challenges. My challenge this month is "Spring All Over". For this challenge you have to use a variety of spring related embellishements on your layout. All the details can be found HERE. This is my example layout also using my new My Little Shoebox papers.

The Scrapbook Challenges sponsor for April is Paper Crafts and they have generously donated a prize pack for one lucky winner. For every challenge you enter your name will be submitted for the random draw. Good luck to all who enter!

Hello again

It's seems like forever since I have posted! Boy oh boy has it been busy around here! The end of the school year is always the busiest and I haven't had a moment to relax lately. Only five weeks until summer break though and then I will be staying home with my sweet Frances. I can not wait!

Now onto the May kit from Simply Obsessed- Crate Paper Pink Plum! I loved this kit. The colors and embellishments were just perfect. I finished two layouts of our Easter pictures.

My last project is an 8 x 8 wall hanging I made from the page of an old chipboard album. I used a picture of Frances and I from Mother's Day last year and used repositionable tape so I can change the photo this Mother's Day.

And I saved some exciting news for last! Scrapbook challenges is having a blog hop this weekend! I hope you will be able to make it. There will be lots of RAK's to give away and the new DT members will be announced.

And if that's not enough the blog hop will also coincide with our National Scrapbook Day crop.

A little under the weather

The flu hit our house this week. Bad. First Frances was sick, then my husband was sick, then I was sick and now grandma is sick. I think part of the problem is that Frances just learned to kiss and is trying to give everything and everyone kisses! Not good for keeping the flu away :(

So no scrapbooking for me the last week, but there is a new sketch posted at Scrapbook challenges.

Also my April "Daily Grind" challenged is posted at Challenge Masters. It is to scrapbook some of your daily errands. All the details can be found here. If you enter you will entered into a random drawing for a RAK from me and in a drawing to win a prize from the current sponsor Cutter Creek store! It is a really cute package of scrapping goodies.

Hello Spring!

The sun is shining, my baby girl is playing and I am on spring break! It doesn't get better than this! The weather is supposed to be nice this week and we have lots of fun plans. I can't wait! It also means I will have lots of pictures to scrap (hehe!).

Frances loves to be outside now. In fact as soon as I get home from work she is crying to go outside. We play and play and then when we come inside to make dinner she keeps handing me her coat to go outside again. She likes to look for birds outside. She points to all the birds she sees. I can't believe how much she knows now. Just last year she was still a little baby. Boy how times flies huh?

Anyway, My GDT projects have been posted on the Nikki Sivils blog for a week now so I can now post them here! Thanks so much to everyone who left comments. It was really sweet :)

I love the tree on this card. I cut the circles from an old book, inked them, stamped them and layered them to make my tree top. Add the Nikki Sivils tree branch sticker and you have this adorable tree.

For this card I cut the beehive with my cricut and then stapled it together to make a card. The inside says "honey". Get it? Hello honey? Because it's a beehive!

Thanks for stopping by. I have some fun news to share so I am planning a give away soon!

And you can see what the DT did with the sketch here.

Yay!!!

My Guest Design Team work is up on the Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker blog!!!! I received Nikki's Willow Bee papers and lots of fun embellishments to work with. I love all of the Nikki Sivils products because they are just so darn cute. Those little breadless tags and burlap buttons are my faves though! Here is a little preview of what I made. The rest can be seen by clicking here. And comments are always appreciated ;)

Even the Nikki Sivils packaging is adorable. Just check out the journaling card here. I cut that from the back of the buttons package!

Here's those cute tags and buttons I was talking about! Love, love, love them!!

And a close up of the fun bees. These were cut from the sheet of "Bee's Cutie Cut Ups". A whole sheet of fun embellishments to cut from paper. And of course cutting paper is my favorite
thing to do ;)

Thanks for stopping by! - Sarah

New Challenges...

A new week brings new challenges at Scrapbook Challenges!!

This week's sketch is a two-pager designed by the very talented Pamela Young.

And there's also a new challenge hosted by three of the DT members, myself included. My challenge is to scrapbook 4 or more photos in a rectangular grid pattern. Here is my example:

And I just received an email today from the super nice Nikki Sivils herself. There was a mix up on the blog yesterday and my projects will be posted on March 21st. Oh the agony of waiting another week!!!! I kept stalking the blog yesterday (hehe). The willow bee collection is one of my favorite lines ever and my projects are my favorites. I can't wait to share them!!!

And in other news Chicken Pox has made its way to Frances's school. We are crossing our fingers that she doesn't get it! We have a lot planned for spring break and staying home with chicken pox isn't part of the plan.

Have a great St. Patty's day tomorrow. I will be eating some corned beef and cabbage and drinking a green river. Yummy!!!!

Check it out!

I put a new tutorial together on working with craft wire and beads at scrapbook challenges. The tutorial discusses how to use wire, flat nose and needle nose pliers, jewlery beads and crimp beads and how to adhere your wire work. There are also step by step instructions on making the wire work on the following projects:

Also- I am the March Guest designer for Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker and today is the "THE DAY" that my work will be featured on her blog. Pretty exciting huh? I am waiting patiently for it to be posted ;)

I am so so so excited to be the March Guest Designer for Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I check out her blog everyday and what did I see today????? My picture! And she tweeted about me! For a novice like myself this is pretty big! I had the opportunity to work with her Willow Bee line and I LOVE it. It is so cute and fun and perfect for pictures of Frances. My projects will be posted on the Nikki Sivils blog Monday March 15th, but here is a little sneak peak:

Create a banner

Is my March challenge over at Simply Obsessed.

I love the look of those cute little banners I see all over on layouts and cards. Perfect for a birthday celebration layout, right? Exactly what I thought! So I created this little banner from scrap patterned paper and raffia. I can't get enough of the raffia right now. I have been putting it on everything!  I decorated the banner with flowers and hearts and then birthday candles. I even attempted to put the title on the little flags. In the end I decided the banner looked cute just as is. I guess some times simple is the best way to go. I tried to go easy on the embellishments on this layout too to keep the attention on the extra cute birthday girl.  I also used one of the March sketch's from Scrapbook Challenges for a little inspiration.

Hello

Just a little card to post today. I created this hello card for the Lily Bee DT call using one of the past kits from Simply Obsessed.

I actually created quite a few layouts the last few weeks, but none that I can post just right now ;) ;).

Monday's Sketch

Lucky Me SO Kit

It's reveal time at Simply Obsessed! Every month I say this is the best kit yet. And yep, I am going to say it again this month :). The March Lucky Me kit is just so fun! Even my husband commented on my projects and said how much he liked the colors. I would never pick out these colors on my own. I always go for pinks and reds. Good thing I have Heather, because I love the projects I created with this kit. That's just one of the reasons I love the kits at SO so much. I find so many great products that I would have otherwise overlooked if not for the kit. Plus the kits are always jam packed with amazing products!

My first layout is of my husband, my daughter and I. We were fooling around with the self timer on the camera and took these goofy pics. I cut out the swirls on the patterned paper to make embellishments and used some chipboard and thickers from my stash.

All right, I'll admit it. I couldn't resist adding some pink to this layout. I don't like it when people think Frances is a boy so I thought a little pink would solve that. Aren't those prima roses the cutest? I wanted to use them as is because I thought they looked so cute like that. I tied them with a pink ribbon to make a rose bouquet.

I usually don't like making cards, but I love the cards I made with this kit. I tied some raffia around each to give them fun dimension and used the cool Jillibean soup buttons.

After all this, I still have tons of product left too! I am saving it for photos of our traditional corned beef and cabbage dinner that I make every year on St. Patty's day. YUMMMY! Have a great one- Sarah
